Advanced Technology
When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Dr. Geshay and his staff utilize the latest in technology to enhance the quality and fit for your child’s dental care.
Dr. Geshay uses high power loupes to enhance the precision of patient care.
Dentistry is micro-surgery. Using loupes enables us to create dental restorations with incredible precision and quality. You just can’t fulfill that level of care with the naked eye.
DIGITAL IMAGING
Dr. Geshay chooses carefully which and when radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your child’s teeth, determine if any teeth are missing and analyze the health of the bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, look for any hidden pathology or lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess the extent of damage when trauma occurs.
Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal because Dr. Geshay utilizes Digital Imaging Technologies within the office. With digital imaging, exposure time is about 50 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital imaging increases our ability of retrieving valuable diagnostic information about your child’s dental health that we can not ascertain with the naked eye. Literally, it helps us see cavities better.
Digital imaging allows us to store patient images and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them electronically to other specialists and insurance companies.
DIGITAL X-RAYS
Digital x-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a film image up to the light. Digital x-rays result in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you.
INTRAORAL CAMERA
Many patients, especially younger patients, are very familiar with the latest technology and are comfortable with the high tech practice. Computers and TV screens are their primary method of information processing. Dr. Geshay can utilize intraoral camera technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. An intraoral camera is a very small camera – in some cases, just a few millimeters long. This specialized camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your child’s mouth, teeth, and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time for you and your child.
Intra-oral cameras also enable our practice to save images in our office computer to provide permanent record of treatments. These images can be printed for you, other specialists, and your insurance company.
DIAGNODENT – CAVITY DETECTION AID (www.bavousa/us/diagnodent)
Using this pen-like instrument and laser fluorescence technology, a beam of light is sent into the grooves of a patient’s tooth. With 90% accuracy, decay can be discovered early, so minimal restorative efforts are required. This means decay is caught early, it is smaller, and causes less stress on your child to resolve. Dr. Geshay also uses the Diagnodent as an important and highly accurate “built-in” second opinion .
DENTAL DAM
Dr. Geshay proudly uses the dental dam during every restorative procedure. The dental ( rubber) dam is a 4 inch square piece of latex or silicone that safely isolates a single tooth or segment of teeth while undergoing a restorative procedure. In pediatric dentistry, the dam in beneficial in many ways, including but not limited to :
- Protects the child’s airway from tooth debris, bacteria, contaminated saliva, instruments or dental materials. Safety enhancement.
- No longer will your child have to swallow tooth debris, bacteria, contaminated saliva, instruments or dental materials. Safety enhancement.
- Makes the treatment site easy to access, prevents accidental trauma to a moving tongue, cheeks or lips. Safety enhancement.
- Assures that the child breathes directly through his/her nose; thereby assuring that the patient receives a constant concentration of Nitrous Oxide receiving it’s maximum calming benefit . Comfort enhancement.
- Keeps the tooth dry during the placement of a bonded restoration or sealant. preventing moisture contamination which can shorten the life of a bonded restoration. Quality enhancement.
- Improves the efficiency of treatment, allowing for more treatment to be achieved in a shorter period of time. Using a dental dam can actually reduce the number of visits needed. Comfort and time enhancement.
