Infant Exams
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry along with the American Dental Association recommends that the child’s first visit should coincide with his or her first birthday. Our office encourages infant exams as a way to allow parents of newborns a chance to speak to a pediatric dentist about any questions or concerns they might have. Often, this first visit involves a simple oral examination and talking to the parents about oral hygiene techniques, teething, oral habits, such as pacifier use and thumb sucking, and preventing dental decay. These exams are encouraged because they can foster good dental habits and enable early intervention if problems do exist.
FREE INFANT DENTAL EXAMINATIONS
In our office, we realize that great healthy smiles start early! So to help this happen, we offer free dental exams for children 14 months and under. As hard as it is to imagine, dental and oral health problems, such as decay, do occur in infants. The American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry all recommend that parents establish a dental home for their child before the age of one.
