What Should I Tell My Child?

What Should I Tell My Child?Sometimes parents in the eagerness to prepare their children,  over explain.  DON’T !!!  We suggest that you casually mention a few days ahead,  that  “We are going to visit the dentist the day after tomorrow.”  Then, when the day arrives, mention it again.  Please convey the feeling that dental visits are a part of growing up.  Please don’t offer rewards or indicate in any way that there is something to fear.  We are trained to spend extra time with your child to explain procedures and instruments to them in a way that makes sense for their age and maturity level.

HOW DO I PREPARE MY CHILD FOR THE FIRST VISIT?

We have found that one of the best ways to prepare your child for their first dental visit is by explaining one of the many books found on our Book Suggestions page.  Please consider purchasing one of these fine books as a way of presenting the world of dentistry in a fun and non-threatening way.
